Whether for Father’s Day, Christmas, or birthdays, finding the right gift for Dad can sometimes be a tough task. Many gift lists are overwhelming, very techy, or all over the place. So I’m keeping this list short and specific - great gifts for the healthy, fitness-minded Pop!

Weighted Vest

Folding Under Desk Walking Pad
TRX Suspension System
DIY Smoothie Kit Bundle
Two-Person Inflatable Kayak
A weighted vest is a simple way to add more resistance to your daily training. Use it for body weight workouts, general conditioning, or on long walks. There are a lot of weighted vests out there, so the key is to find one that distributes the weight properly and stays fit around the body while moving. It’s also ideal to find brands that don’t use metal plates as they can be uncomfortable or dig in while working out. So look for vests that use sand or flexible weights. I own a weighted vest and gifted this Zelus one to my dad years ago, and it’s very comfortable, while really adding that extra challenge.

If you’re looking to get out on a local lake or river with your Dad, consider a two-person inflatable kayak. Kayaking is a fun way to get a workout in for the day - depending on the tempo you decide to go with it. This kayak also has a removable seat, so it can also be used as a single person kayak. Comes with a handpump or you can use an electric pump, as well. This is the kayak that I personally own and enjoy using with my family throughout the summer.

Make a smoothie bundle for him! No doubt, if your Dad is into fitness, he already has his exact protein powders figured out - so I’m not going to recommend anything there. But what about other greens, fruits, and vegetables and powders he can beef up his smoothie with? Here’s three great options you could buy separate or bundle together:
1. Beet Root Juice Powder - high in nitrates to support blood circulation and athletic stamina.
2. Super Greens Powder - because we all could use more greens in our diet.
3. Pomegranate Juice Powder - high in antioxidants to support heart health, immunity, and enhance athletic performance.
I use the Micro Ingredients brand since they are organic and without extra fillers. And finally, if he doesn’t already have an on-the-go blender for home or at the office, you could pair the powders with a nutribullet blender that comes with the travel cup. Depending on your budget, you could really have fun creating a smoothie bundle gift basket!

If you haven’t heard of it before, TRX stands for Total Resistance eXercise system. Basically, it includes straps that allow you to use your body weight to perform exercises such as planks, push-ups, lunges, squats, etc., all while engaging your whole body core to stabilize. You can anchor the straps at home to ceilings or doors, or you can take it on-the-go and hook it to trees or poles. It’s a great way to engage the entire body in a low impact manner. My dad has had a TRX for the past decade, and he still continues to use it regularly.

Did you know that just 30 minutes of walking every day can strengthen the heart, reduce stress, control blood sugar, improve bone and joint health, and of course, help to burn calories. However, such a simple task isn’t always feasible to the busy dad trying to work all day, then get to kid’s sports, and help with projects around the house. But whether your dad works at home or in an office, a folding treadmill that can be stored under the desk could give that nice fitness boost during the day. Note that a folding treadmill is really for just walking on during the day - if you’re looking to go for a brisk run, then you’d need to invest in a larger treadmill.

Can’t forget about the Dads that like to golf! And hey, it is a fitness sport. I saw one of these golf practice chipping nets while out shopping one day and thought how neat it was. There are other more extravagant practice nets on the market that set up like a tent, but I feel like for the limited time people have after work these days, the last thing they may want is to spend 20 minutes just setting up the device versus just two minutes. Plus, it looks like a great way to play with the kids too!
I hope this list was helpful to give you some ideas of what to get Dad this year. Time to now celebrate the guy who leads by example, eating healthy and crushing his fitness goals! Happy shopping and enjoy your celebrations together!
